Welcome! Computer
basics is dedicated to those completely new to
computing. Think of it as your very own beginners guide
to all things computers where we show you how to use
your computer properly and teach some basic Windows
functions. Each week we will add a new article and if
you have none or little knowledge of computers and find
you are struggling to do simple things then this is the
place for you!
As a computer expert I frequently work with inexperienced computer users just like you and have witnessed how difficult it can be for you to do the things you want. It's nothing to be ashamed of and we all have to start somewhere right? Even I had to start somewhere! Back then though a computer was nothing more than a black screen with a blinking white cursor!
Today computers very different, very technical and sadly for most of us just too darn complicated to use! To be able to do anything on a computer requires some knowledge at least. How often have I heard someone say "I lost a file! I saved it somewhere but don't know where! AAARRRGGG!!"
Learning the basic functions, how to surf the internet and use emails and understanding things like file structure and the different types of file types will give you a good start in your quest to become NASA's chief computer engineer!!! (hehe). Jokes aside starting off in the right direction will lead you to a more enjoyable user experience and will enable you to use your own initiative to figure out how things work and solve minor problems.
