Regular maintenance
Along with professional servicing twice a year keeping your computer system in tip top shape requires a weekly or monthly maintenance program. How often a PC should be maintained depends on how often it is used and what it is used for.
We are not talking about stripping your PC here we're talking about general file maintenance. If you use your PC for simple things like browsing the internet or word processing, cleaning out your junk files and defragging your hard drive once a month should be fine.
If you're a heavy duty user and you encode allot of video or handle large files such as WAV files then a daily maintenance schedule is in order. We recommended you defrag the hard drive at least once a day to keep the system at optimum levels.
You can use the built in defragment software in windows if you wish but there some good alternatives available
